Myron was KIA on fights over Betio, Gilbert Island on Sep. 22, 1943, Sergeant Myron L. Abbott is honored with a  Purple Heart with 2 Stars, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Presidential unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 3 Stars and the WWII Victory Medal.

 

Myron is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial  Manila, Metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
