Wallace was KIA on transport to Mindoro the LST-460 Sunk because it was under enemy attack on Dec. 21, 1944, Private Wallace R. Abel is honored with a  Purple Heart, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

 

Wallace is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial  Manila, Metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
