The Imperial Japanese began their Invasion in the Philippines on 8 Dec 1941.

The 45th Infantry Regiment resorted to fighting together among American and Filipino forces when compelled to surrender on 9 Apr 1942.

Sergeant Abellanoza became a POW and was imprisoned at Pow Camp O ‘Donnell he survived the Bataan Death March, but died shortly after it.

 

 Jose is born in the Philippines.

Jose enlisted the U.S.Army in  the Philippines with service number # 6735594.

 

 Jose died as a POW on May 14, 1942, Sergeant Jose Abellanoza is honored with a Bronze Star Medal, POW Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

 

Jose is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial  Manila, Metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
