Stanley was KIA when the Ship was hit by 3 Bombs and shot a Aichi Dive Bomber who crashed on the Deck, meanwhile it was hit by 2 Torpedoes from a Nakajima plane and a other Crash on the bow, 1 day later it was severally damaged and Sunk on Oct. 26, 1942, Carpenter Mate Second Class Charles H. Abrams is honored with a  Purple Heart, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

 

Charles is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial  Manila, Metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
