Lloyd enlisted the service in Oklahoma with service number # 3563872.

Lloyd was KIA in the Battle of Cape Esperance, while loading the Turret with a shell, being shot on Oct. 12, 1942. he is honored with the Navy Cross, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

Lloyd is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial  Manila, Metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
