John was KIA during fights over Hill 700, Luzon on Jan. 25, 1945, he is honored with a  Purple Heart, Silver Star, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

 

John is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial  Manila, Metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
