Eldon was KIA at Lonoy, Philippines during Operation Carthwheel, on Dec. 18, 1944 , he is honored with a  Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

 

Eldon is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial  Manila, Metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
