Floyd was KIA when his ship Sunk by Japanese Aircraft off Guadacanal, on Aug. 9, 1942,  is honored with a  Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

 

Floyd is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial  Manila, Metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
