Bataan Death March (April 9, 1942)

Sergeant Cecilio Africa became a POW an walked (60 miles) the Bataan Death March , Many (together with 70.000 pow) walked this march and many died (aprox.600), lack of nutrition and water) to Prison Camps in the Philippines and he was send to Camp No Record, and became part of a work detail.

 

Cecilio is born in the Philippines.

Cecilio enlisted the U.S.Army in Philippines with service number # 10303592.

 

Cecilio died in Japanese Captivity on May 13, 1942, he is honored with a Bronze Star Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

 

Celicio is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial  Manila, Metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
