Alfred was KIA  when a Japanese bomber true some depth charges and the Sub sunk at the (Lombok Straight) Java Sea, on Aug. 6, 1945, he is honored with a Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

 

Alfred is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial  Manila, Metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
