George was KIA when his Transport the USS LST-749 was struck by a Kamikaze in the Sulu Sea near Mindoro, the Philippines on Dec. 21, 1944, he is honored with a Purple Heart, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.


George is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial  Manila, Metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
