Charles was KIA during the Saipan Landings, when the LVT was hit by Japanese fire, on June 15, 1944, he is honored with a Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon,  Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

 

Charles is buried/mentioned at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
