James was KIA when they took off from Biak, Island, Papua New Guinea on a operational mission to Finschhafen, Papua New Guinea. They are believed to have crashed at sea for an unknown reason during the war on Dec. 12, 1944, he is honored with a Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.
