The United States Navy occupational rating of boatswain’s mate (abbreviated as BM) is a designation given by the Bureau of Naval Personnel (BUPERS) to enlisted members who were rated or “striking” for the rating as a deck seaman.

 

Kermit was born in, 1921 in Corbin, Kentucky.

 

Father, Oscar Allen.

Mother, Ethel Allen.

 

Kermit enlisted the service in Kentucky with service number # 2872694.

 

Kermit was KIA when the ship was bombed by a Japanese Bomber near Iwo Jima on Feb. 18, 1945, Kermit Allen is honored with a Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, American Campaign Medal and a WWII Victory Medal.

 

Kermit is buried/mentioned at  Honolulu Memorial  Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
