Oswald enlisted the service in Alabama with service number # 0-240814.

 

Oswald died in a training-accident, he collided with a TBM Avanger and the crashed on July 24, 1945, he is honored with a Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

Oswald is buried/mentioned at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu County, Hawaii U.S.A.

VBF-95 was based on N A S  HILO Territory of Hawaii (T.H.).

 

 

The Bomber Fighter Squadrons, were created to reduce the Fighter Squadrons in an Air Group to an acceptable size. Fighter Squadrons had up to 60 planes and 100 pilots. Normaly a Fighter Squadron was split in two to creat a Bomber Fighter Squadron.
