Rex was KIA on duty for Destroyer Division 90 the USS Pringle was attacked by 3 Kamikazes, 2 of them splashed and the third went in the Bridge and later sunk the ship on April 16, 1945, he is honored with a Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Expeditionary Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

Rex is buried/mentioned at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu County, Hawaii U.S.A.
