Robert was KIA when the Japanese Navy attacked the Sub near Rabaul on the surface with gunfire and depth charges on Jan. 11, 1944, he is honored with a Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

Robert is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial Manila, metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
