Roy was KIA when the USS Houston was attacked and severe damaged in the Battle of Sunda Strait got hit by a torpedo and Sunk on March 1, 1942, he is honored with a Purple Heart, Distinguished unit Citation, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Expeditionary Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

Roy is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial Manila, metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
