Sister, Ruth Adair.

Brother, Robert J. Adair.

 

William entered the Service from New York with service number # 2246651.

 

William E. Adair was a Seaman 1st Class in the United States Navy.

 

William E. Adair was Killed in Action when the USS Brownson sunk after being hit by bombs from a Japanese Dive Bomber at Cape Gloucester on Dec. 26, 1943, and he is honored with the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Expeditionary Medal, American Campaign Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

And he is buried at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, Manila, Metro Manila,

National Capital Region, Philippines.
