Leland W. Alexander was KIA when the USS Frederick C. Davis was torpedoed by the German Sub U-546 at the American Coast, on April 24  1945,  and is honored with a Purple Heart, Good Combat Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Expeditionary Medal, American Campaign Medal, Navy & Marine Presidential Unit Citation, WW II Victory Medal.
