Benjamin was KIA when the Japanese Submarine I-175 torpedoed the USS Liscome Bay (base) and sunk on Feb. 24, 1943, he is honored with a Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Expeditionary Medal, American Campaign Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

Benjamin is buried/mentioned at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu County, Hawaii U.S.A.
