Carl enlisted the service in Michigan with service number # 6232107.

 

Carl was KIA in the Battle of Savo, near Guadalcanal when the USS De Haven was bombed by Japanese Planes and sunk on Feb. 1, 1943,  he is honored with a Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Expeditionary Medal, American Campaign Medal, Navy & Marine Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

Carl is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial Manila, Metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
