Thomas was KIA during a fire bombing raid on Tokyo, nothing was heard from the plane after takeoff, probably crashed into the Pacific, on May 26, 1945, he is honored with an Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

Thomas is buried/mentioned at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu County, Hawaii U.S.A.
