Joe was KIA/MIA when the USS Plymouth sunk by a tremendous explosion by a torpedo shot by the German U-566 on 5 August 1943, he is honored with a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

Joe is buried/mentioned at East Coast Memorial, Manhattan, New York County (Manhattan), New York, USA.
