On 7 June 1942, six B-24D Liberator bombers and their crews were loaned to the 28th Composite Group in Alaska to conduct air combat missions against the Japanese in the Aleutians, a B-24D Liberator #41-63752 was during the mission on 30 March 1943, hit by Japanese anti-aircraft fire The bomber went down in the Bering Sea and was never seen again.

Clifford was MIA (probably) when on a Bombing Mission to Kiska Island, Aleutians, Alaska they were shot by AA and Crashed in the Bering Sea on 30 March, 1943, They participated in three Unit Campaigns: Antisubmarine; Air Offensive, Japan and the Aleutian Islands. he is honored with an Air Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

Clifford is buried/mentioned at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu County, Hawaii U.S.A.
