Andrew died in a mid-air collision with a Marine Wildcat on June 9, 1943, he is honored with a Purple Heart, Air Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Expeditionary Medal, American Campaign Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

In this accident also his Crewmember, SSgt. Thomas J Quinn was killed.

Jackson was posthumously promoted to Captain.

 

Andrew is buried/mentioned at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu County, Hawaii U.S.A.
