William was born  in New York.

Brothers, Dominik, Frank, Leo, Jerry, Johnny and Vincent La Calamito.

 

William  entered  the service from New York with service number # 9069191.

 

William J. La Calamito was a Seaman 1st Class in  the United States Navy.

 

William was KIA when a Kamikaze attacked the USS Ticonderoga near Formosa, (present Taiwan) , on Jan. 21, 1945, he is honored with a Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Expeditionary Medal, American Campaign Medal, Navy & Marine Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

William is buried at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, Manila, Metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
