Erwin was KIA during the Japanese Air Raid on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, and he is honored with the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

 

Erwin is buried at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii.
