Clarence W. Oakes was a Steward’s Mate 2nd Class in the United States Navy.

 

Clarence was KIA during the Iwo Jima mission when the USS Pensacola took six hits by Coastal Fire, Three officers and 14 men were killed on Feb. 17, 1945, and he is honored with the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

 

Clarence is buried at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
