Jud was KIA onboard the Submarine(USS-275 Runner) near the coast of Japan due to a mine, on July 11, 1943, and he is honored with the an Silver Star Medal, Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Expeditionary Medal, American Campaign Medal, Navy & Marine Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.


Jud is buried at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
