The Battle for the Philippines resorted to fighting together among American and Filipino forces when compelled to surrender on 9 Apr 1942.

Major Aigrisse became a POW and was imprisoned at Pow Camp Cabanatuan, he survived the Bataan Death March.

Frank is born in Oct. 25, 1897 in Belgium.

Hokusen MARU

The Hokusen Maru was a Hell Ships.

The Hokusen Maru, sailed from Manila on Jan. 1,  1944 for Japan.

Onboard 1100 POW for different POW Camps located in Japan.

 

Davao – Small port city on southeast coast of Mindanao. The POW camp was located some ten miles northwest of the port. Camp was closed 6 June 1944 and the POWS were sent first to Cebu on the Yashu Maru. In Cebu, they were transferred to the Singoto Maru and moved to Manila and into Bilibid.

But Capt. William G. Allen was already in Camp. Shinjuku in Tokyo.

 

William is born approx. on Sep. 12, 1917 in California.

 

Mother, …… Allen.

 

William enlisted the service in California with service number #19000706 .

 

William died as a POW in Camp, Shinjuku, Tokyo on March 26, 1945, he is honored with a POW Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

VBF-95 was based on N A S  HILO Territory of Hawaii (T.H.).

 

 

The Bomber Fighter Squadrons, were created to reduce the Fighter Squadrons in an Air Group to an acceptable size. Fighter Squadrons had up to 60 planes and 100 pilots. Normaly a Fighter Squadron was split in two to creat a Bomber Fighter Squadron.
